ABGD 2016-2017 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

President, Randolph A. Coffey, DMD, MS, MAGD, FICD, ABGD  
Dr. Randolph A. Coffey graduated from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry in 1988. He earned Certificates of Residency for completing his GPR at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital in 1989 and his Comprehensive Dentistry 2-year AEGD residency at The Naval Postgraduate Dental School in 2004 and also earned Master of Science in Health Sciences from the George Washington University with concentration in Oral Biology in 2004. Dr. Coffey is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry and has been board certified by the American Board of General Dentistry since 2005. Dr. Coffey is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists since 2011. Dr. Coffey is the Senior Dental Executive, Senior Health Services Officer: US Coast Guard District 7: Airstation Clearwater /Sector St. Petersburg. Dr. Coffey has served as an ABGD board director since 2011.
Vice President, Daniel P. Lavin, DMD, MAGD, ABGD
Dr. Daniel P. Lavin graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1984. He completed his residency in 1985 at Fort Jackson, SC. Dr. Lavin has served as Director of a Comprehensive Dentistry Program at Fort Hood, TX and Hawaii. In addition he has served as a consultant for the Council on Dental Accreditation with the American Dental Association and as a consultant to the Army Surgeon General for General and Comprehensive Dentistry. He achieved ABGD board certification in 2003 and has served as an ABGD board director since 2013. ;
Treasurer, William Schlesinger DDS, AFAAID, MAGD, ABGD  
Dr. William Schlesinger graduated from Brooklyn College in 1984. He received his doctoral degree from The State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 1988. From 1988 - 1990 Dr. Schlesinger was a resident and then chief resident in Dentistry at Long Island Jewish Hospital. From 1990 - 2001, Dr. Schlesinger was an Assistant Attending at Queens General Hospital. Dr. Schlesinger received his Mastership in 2006. In 2009 Dr. Schlesinger became Board Certified by the American Board of General Dentistry. In June of 2014 he became an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He has had and maintains a private practice in New York City since 1998.
Secretary, Thomas J. Boyle, DMD, MAGD, ABGD  
Dr. Thomas J. Boyle graduated from St. Peter's College in 1972 and completed his dental training at New Jersey Dental School in 1975. He was in private practice from 1975 to 2007. Since then, and currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Dental Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in the AEGD Department of Adult Dentistry. He is a past President of the New Jersey Academy of General Dentistry and received his Master of Academy of General Dentistry in 2003. He became Board Certified with the American Board of General Dentistry in 2006. He has served as an ABGD Director since 2014.
Geneviève Bussière, DMD, ABGD 
LCol Geneviève Bussière graduated from Université de Montréal (U of M) in 1997 and subsequently completed a 1-year Residency at Université Laval (Québec). Before her enrolment in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in 1999, LCol Bussière worked in private practice in the Montreal area and was also employed as a clinician in the fixed prosthodontics clinic of U of M. Since joining the military, she has been employed on many CAF Bases in various clinical and leadership positions. She completed a 2-Year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program at Fort Hood, Texas and successfully challenged the American Board of General Dentistry (ABGD) in 2009. She is currently assigned to Ottawa (Ontario) as Dental Detachment Commander for one of 1 Dental Unit's Regional Specialty Care Centers; in that capacity, she also remains actively involved with clinical care delivery and subordinates' professional and clinical development. She is currently the Canadian Armed Forces Forensic Odontology Senior Practice Leader and the Canadian Forces Forensic Odontology Response Team Lead.
Jon M. Dossett, DMD, MAGD, FICD, ABGD  
Dr. Jon M. Dossett is the Director, Dental Biomaterials Evaluation and Vice-Commander at the USAF Dental Evaluation and Consultation Service. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1983 and a DMD degree from the College of Dentistry in 1987. He completed a two-year General Dentistry Residency in 1994 at Keesler AFB, MS and has served as Director, AEGD-1, USAF Academy, CO and as Training Officer, AEGD-2, Lackland AFB, TX. He is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and a Diplomate of the American Board of General Dentistry. Dr. Dossett has served as an ABGD board director since 2011. He served as Treasurer 2012-2013.
Dennis Flanagan, DDS, MSc, ABGD  
Dr. Dennis Flanagan is the managing partner of a two location private general dental group practice. He is a diplomat of the American Board of General Dentistry, International Congress of Oral Implantologists and American Board of Implantology/Implant Dentistry. He has published over 100 articles in dentistry and holds six US patents on medical and dental devices. He has made many presentations at national and international dental conferences. Dr. Flanagan is an Honored Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Fellow of the Academy of Osseointegration and American Board of Forensic Dentistry. He is a Georgetown University School of Dentistry (DDS) graduate, and has studied oral implantology at Harvard University Dental School (certificate) and at the Geothe Medical University, Frankfurt Germany (MSc).
John A. Safar, DDS, MAGD, ABGD  
Dr. John A. Safar is currently the Commander of the 21st Dental Squadron, Peterson, AFB, Colorado. He leads a squadron of 16 dentists and 41 support staff. Dr. Safar graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a B.S. degree in biology in 1987 and received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1991. He earned his certificate of residency for completing the two-year Comprehensive General Dentistry Residency at Keesler AFB, MS in 1998. Dr. Safar has served as a Program Director, AEGD-1, at Scott AFB, IL and at Nellis AFB, NV for a total of 12 years. He has been board certified by the American Board of General Dentistry since 1999 and is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Andrew T. Stewart DDS, MAGD, ABGD  
Dr. Stewart graduated from the Pensylvania State University in 1989 with a degree in biology. After graduating from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1993, he spent one year as the Resident at the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic. He earned his AGD Mastership in 2006. In 2009 he became a Diplomate of the American Board og General Dentistry. He belongs to several scientific dental organizations including the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the American Society of Forensic Ondontology, The Pennsylvania Dental Identification Team, and the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team of the Federal Department of Health and Human Services. He currently is President-Elect of the Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry.
