Sandra Mitchell Dental Resident Community Service Award
Purpose, Description and Objective
The Sandra Mitchell Dental Resident Community Service Award is offered by the American Board of General Dentistry to dental graduate residents. The goal of the Mitchell Award is to recognize volunteer community service by a dental graduate resident in providing dental services to the underserved or the direct involvement in dental outreach, community education, or participation in community programs. The Mitchell Award is named in memory of the late Sandra Mitchell, long-time Executive Director of the American Board of General Dentistry. Service-learning projects that provide academic credit may be submitted. Please note that this award is meant to recognize altruistic resident efforts. Thus, applications that describe service learning for academic credit should also describe student enhancements to that service learning that go beyond basic academic requirements, and which are student volunteer based.
